FAQ

  • Do you accept clients with box-dyed hair?

Yes, but every situation is different depending on the type of box dye used, how many times the hair has been colored, and how much artificial pigment is still present.

All clients with box-dyed hair are required to book an in-person consultation and strand test before scheduling a color service. This allows me to evaluate the condition of your hair, see how it responds to lightener, and create a realistic plan based on your hair goals.

Box-dyed hair services are considered color corrections and are charged at an hourly rate of $100 per hour.

  • Can I lighten my hair if I have a perm or Japanese straightening treatment?

Unfortunately, I do not recommend lightening hair that has been chemically permed or Japanese straightened. Combining these chemical services with lightener can severely compromise the hair and may cause excessive breakage or a loss of hair integrity.

For the healthiest and safest results, I recommend waiting until the chemically treated hair has completely grown out and been cut off before beginning a lightening service.

  • What happens if my lightened hair is exposed to chlorine?

Whenever possible, it is best to keep lightened hair out of chlorinated pool water. Chlorine can cause blonde hair to become discolored, dry, brittle, or more prone to breakage.

If your blonde becomes discolored or feels dry after swimming, the effects may be corrected with a professional clarifying treatment and gloss refresh.

Please let me know before your appointment if your hair has been exposed to chlorine within the past month and you are scheduled for a lightening service. A deep clarifying treatment may be required before lightener can be safely applied.

Clarifying treatments are $100 and will add additional time to your scheduled service.
